2006 Production

A musical set in a 1950's ice-cream parlour!

Although up against stiff competition from a flashy new chain of ice cream parlours, Angelo's has a faithful following and is much loved by its regulars. But when Angelo dies and a will cannot be found, movie start Deanna arrives claiming the parlour is hers and that it must close.

The show was directed by Justine Laws and Musical Director was Stephen Yarrow. Our rehearsal pianist was Tom Connolly. The Next Generation team were heavily involved in all aspects of the show.

Director's Diary....

1st September 06 - It was so good to have most of the cast there this Wednesday! The bank holiday we had off as things are going well and everyone worked really hard tonight. Angelo's an Angel now went very well - Tim's singing has really come on! The potential costume parade was good fun and everyone has lots of ideas of what to bring along now. Shake Ripple n Roll will need some more work inthe dance break, but a great start was made on Where There's a Will, so a good rehearsal all round! Definitely need to firm up the rest of the production team though...

19th August 06 - So far so good! In fact it seems that if I am absent as I was last week, lots gets done! More holidays for me then! One new number was set and another well underway with previous numbers being re-rehearsed! A good week's work and I can't wait to see them! Steve has been holding the fort and I think we will both be glad to have Tom back next week! The holiday season is so frustrating with lots of people missing..... it can't be helped and it is great to see everyone who is there working so hard to compensate!

Rehearsals 28th June 06

2004 - THE ROMAN INVASION OF RAMSBOTTOM!

They came, they saw, they conquered! The Next Generation’s last show was a highly successful romp through Roman Britain as they performed ‘The Roman Invasion of Ramsbottom’. Scott Cain gave a memorable performance as Governor Agricola who has been in Britannia so long he almost feels like one of the natives! All well and good, except this does not fit in to the Roman way of thinking! Chris Leach’s character Conkus, (a performance which will live in the memory for quite some time!), is less than impressed to find his new superhighway has not been completed as planned and stops dead at the local Ramsbottom pub The Roman’s Return instead of Carlisle. Add into this a dose of Italian mafia and audiences were treated to a really good night out!
